From my window … the sea

and so it happened
that I could reflect

to write these words

in a poem

the words

of the famous conductor

Edgar Cree

he had a program

on Radio South Africa

long ago

that I used to love

when I was in school

he called it

From my window … the sea

Edgar Cree reflects

it still reminds me

of the symphonic work

La mer

The Sea

by Debussy

you see

Edgar Cree (1914–2002) (88) was a symphony orchestra conductor and Radio South Africa raconteur up to the early nineties. I was in high school from 1974 to 1978, and used to listen to classical music programs in the evenings in my room, lying in bed.
